About South Texas Atlatl
The purpose of South Texas Atlatl is to provide archaeological services for the South Texas borderlands and beyond and to foster interest in the atlatl and archaeology in general in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas and adjacent areas. Currently these services include, but are not limited to:
Atlatl events, demonstrations, and/or displays
Archaeology and primitive skills workshops and educational programs
Cultural resource monitoring
Atlatl Events and Demonstrations
- Location provided for atlatl practice and contests such as ISAC (International Standard Accuracy Contest).
- Atlatl displays and hands-on demonstrations available for schools, archaeology fairs, and other events.
Archaeology Workshops and Educational Programs
- Students will aquire knowledge about past cultures and will learn the importance of cultural, historical, and environmental preservation.
- Archaeology workshops and educational programs involve diverse subject areas such as music and art, as well as geology, physics, botony, biology, and history.

Cultural Resource Management
- Cultural resource monitoring services also provided when available
